RESEARCH / Short Bio

Michele Pasin is a researcher in Cultural Informatics at King's College, London, UK. He holds a PhD in artificial intelligence from the Open University (UK) and a BA in philosophy and epistemology from the Universita' di Venezia (Italy). His main research interests concern data architecture, knowledge representation and semantic technologies. Moreover, he is interested in the social web, human-computer interaction and in general, the range of possibilities these and other computing technologies open up for humanities scholars and students. In his previous work, he developed an extensive formal ontology for characterizing the world of philosophy, which has been used to research advanced navigation mechanisms for philosophy learners. In September 2008 he joined the Department of Digital Humanities, where he is working in the team of John Bradley on various projects.
