RESEARCH / Projects / EMLoT
The year 1642 is of primary importance in the study of early modern English theatre, because on that year the the rising Puritan movement took control of the city of London and ordered the closure of the London theatres. Early Modern London Theatres (EMLoT) is a research database and educational resource that lets you see what direct use has been made, over the last four centuries, of pre-1642 documents related to professional performance in purpose-built theatres and other permanent structures in the London area.
