I'm not sure how much this qualifies as a tribute video to Alice in Chains, but hey - who's to judge anyway?
For those unfamiliar with the title, a rusa is a type of caterpillar, in the dialect spoken in Veneto, Italy. The video below is an amateur recording that captures the raw, gritty energy reminiscent of Alice in Chains' grunge sound.
The song "Check My Brain" by Alice in Chains has always been one of my favorites from their 2009 album "Black Gives Way to Blue." It marked the band's return after the death of original vocalist Layne Staley, with William DuVall taking over vocal duties. The track's heavy riffs and introspective lyrics perfectly embody the stoner rock aesthetic that influenced this recording.
This homemade tribute captures that same spirit of experimentation and raw energy that made grunge and stoner rock so compelling in the first place. Sometimes the best tributes aren't the most polished ones, but those that channel the authentic spirit of the original.
